Add Chapters to Videos

Video chapters break up a video into sections, adding context and making it easier to navigate different parts. They allow viewers to rewatch specific sections quickly and improve the overall user experience.

  1. You can add chapters in two different ways:
  2. Enable Chapters in the Player

Add Chapters in the Video Description Field

  1. Navigate to Video Gallery / All Videos from your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
  2. Click the video you’d like to edit.
  3. In the Description field, add a list of timestamps and titles.
    • Ensure the first timestamp starts with 00:00.
    • Your video must have at least three timestamps listed in ascending order.
    • Each chapter must be at least 10 seconds long.
  4. Finally, click the UPDATE / PUBLISH button from the top right side of the page to save the changes.

Add Chapters Using the Dedicated Metabox

If you prefer not to include timestamps in the description field and want them only in the player, you can use the dedicated Chapters metabox.

  1. Navigate to Video Gallery / All Videos from your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
  2. Click the video you’d like to edit.
  3. Locate the Chapters metabox.
  4. Use the form inside the metabox to add chapters.
  5. Finally, click the UPDATE / PUBLISH button from the top right side of the page to save the changes.
Important Note:
  • If you add chapters both in the description field and in the metabox, the plugin will display both inputs.
  • If both fields contain chapters with the same timestamps, the chapters from the metabox will take priority.

Enable Chapters in the Player

Chapters will only be visible in the video player if the option is enabled in the player controls.

  1. Navigate to Video Gallery / Settings / Player (tab) from your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
  2. Locate the Player Controls setting.
  3. Check the “Chapters” option.
  4. Finally, click SAVE CHANGES and check the video player.
For Widget Users:

If you use our “AIOVG – Video Player” widget to embed videos, the same option can be found in the widget settings.

By following these steps, you can efficiently add and manage video chapters for a seamless viewing experience!
